Highland Councillors to Visit Culachy Wind Farm Site
A report issued by The Highland Council planning officers in relation to renewable energy developer RES’ Culachy Wind Farm is recommending approval of the 13-turbine scheme south of Fort Augustus. The application was due to be considered at the South Planning Applications Committee on 10th November; however, members of the committee have decided to visit the wind farm site before making their decision.
RES Development Manager Lisa Miller commented “RES has put in an enormous amount of work and time to ensure that the wind farm is well designed and received well locally. Two local consultation events shaped the scheme prior to its submission; this has led to very few local objections to the wind farm. The overall visibility of the wind farm is very contained, specifically from Loch Ness and key areas in Fort Augustus” Lisa continued “RES firmly believe that Culachy is a good example of a well-designed and appropriately sited project. Councillors will have the opportunity to see that for themselves when they visit the site soon. We trust then that committee members will join the Council officers in supporting the application at the next committee meeting.”
